Facility Guidelines

As we prepare to begin using new facilities for worship, your Building

Committee wanted to take some time to familiarize everyone with the

facilities and the expectations and requirements that exist regarding the

use of this new building. We will be meeting at the St-Joseph French

Catholic School in Russell at 1008 North Russell Road.

One of the requirements of the lease is that we have a phone available to us

at all times. Tim's cell phone will be the designated phone, with

arrangements for a backup when he's away. Tim's phone # is 613-297-2249.

A diagram of the school and the property accompanies this statement of

guidelines.

Safety concerns

Please be especially sensitive to safety issues in the first weeks in our

new facility. There are new structures at this location. New places for

inquisitive children to explore. New blind spots in terms of long-distance

supervision. Etc.

There is lots of space to play around the side and back of the school,

including several play structures. The front of the building is off-limits

to child-play because of the vehicles at the front and the proximity to the

road where many vehicles are still travelling relatively fast as they pass

the school.

Parking

Parking is available at the front of the school with additional parking in

an overflow area just south of the main parking lot. Please don't drive

around the back of the school to park in the rear. The driveway in front of

the school can be used for pick-up and drop-off, but it is a fire lane, so

you can face heavy fines if you leave a vehicle unattended in the school

driveway.

Handicapped Parking: see diagram

Facilities

The accompanying diagram shows you that our main access to the school will

be through the front doors. There is also access to the building at the

north-east corner of the auditorium. This will facilitate easier access to

and from the play area at the side of the school. For our use, we have been

given access to the following rooms:

- the auditorium/gym

- two change rooms at the back of the auditorium

- the library

- a piano room

- the staff room

- washrooms

- hallway access to the rooms that we have permission to use

* The change rooms have been designated a nursery and a nursing mother's

room during the services

* The library is designated Classroom 1 on your diagram

* The staff room is designated Classroom 2 on your diagram

* Two areas of the hallway are designated classrooms 3 and 5 on your diagram

* The piano room is designated classroom 4 on your diagram

* The nursery will serve as classroom 6 after the service

Auditorium

* The back doors to the auditorium are off-limits except for set-up and

janitorial needs or in cases of emergency.

* During the weekly set-up for Sabbath services, some chairs will be set up

along the back of the auditorium for parents who are training their children

to participate in worship.

Respecting the facilities

Various areas of the new facility that are accessible to us are,

nevertheless, off-limits or require special care.

* The barriers that have been placed across hallways have been placed there

by us to keep our children from roaming through the entire building. These

barriers must be respected at all times, but especially in the winter. The

smaller the area we use, the easier it is for our own set-up and clean-up

families to clean-up the church on Sunday evening when we have finished

using it for the day. This also makes it easier for supervision of children.

* Although the lockers are unlocked, they are used by students, so the

lockers are not empty. Leave locker doors closed at all times. The contents

are private property.

* No outdoor footwear is permitted on the small carpeted area in the library

- or on any other carpeted areas in the school.

* There is some nice furniture at the front entrance of the school. No

climbing or playing on this furniture is permitted.

* During Fellowship luncheons and any other event involving food and drink,

ALL food and drink must be consumed in the auditorium.

Parents, please ensure that all members of your household are familiar with

these rules.

Older (young) people, please remember that children are watching you and

following your example. If you take liberties that you can handle, little

people without the same level of judgment may imitate you, which could be a

safety risk or lead to the damage of property. Please be mindful of this

possibility as you also familiarize yourselves with these new surroundings.

Please speak with a member of the Building Committee with any questions you

may have. The members of the Building Committee are Tim Bloedow, Jerry

Herweyer, Jeff McDougall and Hank Vedder.

Thank you all very much for your attention to these matters. We give thanks

to the Lord for His gracious provision to us of a stable place to worship

over the past 11 years, and we look forward to His ongoing care as we begin

worshipping in this new facility for the weeks ahead.

Yours in Christ's Service,

Russell RPC Building Committee
